Around Taiwan

Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan

When we weren’t ballooning the festival organizers would take all of the pilots out to see a little of Taiwan. Unfortunately they seem to think we liked to see the insides of malls most of the time.  We did have one day trip that didn’t involve a mall, it was to Sun Moon Lake and a nearby paper factory in Puli.

After our tour of the paper factory we headed to the largest alpine lake in Taiwan, Sun Moon Lake.  The tour included a boat ride, an introduction to Taiwan aboriginal music and some eggs boiled in green tea, I enjoyed 2 out of 3 of those things. I was hoping the green tea would hide the flavor of the egg but it still tasted like a boiled egg but it wasn’t too hard to find someone else in our group to eat it.  Of course every trip out involved eating.  We missed lunch but we were in time for high tea at the Wen Wan Resort, it was the first meal that I ate everything.  There were croissant sandwiches, mini quiche, and lots of cakes, cookies and other sweets.
