I just finished watching the National Geographic video about Steve McCurry’s journey to create a tribute to Kodachrome using the last roll to come off the production line. He decided to do a series of portraits starting from his home in New York and back to where his career began, India. Even if you have never shot a roll of film everyone has seen photographs taken on this film. One of Steve McCurry’s most famous shots is the Afghan girl who graced the cover of National Geographic.
So many people today have never experienced what it was like to shoot with film, the anticipation waiting for it to get developed and not knowing till it hits the light table that you got the shot. Maybe I’ll get that film out of my freezer and see if I remember how to load it.
