Gallup, New Mexico is a small city located on historic Route 66. It is steeped in Native American culture against a backdrop of red sandstone cliffs. During the first weekend in December the city welcomes nearly 200 balloons. They all come to fly in and around the unique and beautiful cliffs at Red Rock State Park.
We have been attending the Red Rock Balloon Rally since the mid-1990’s. It is our one weekend a year of cold weather and New Mexican food. Many of my photographs from the event go back to the days of film and are on slides files away somewhere. This collection of photographs is from this century.
